Liberating your mind and body

People today are looking for a way of exercising without putting in work. When people think about exercise they mostly think about cardio and weightlifting; not taking into consideration that if they want something simpler and fun to do on a daily basis, hula hooping might just be the best option.

There are also a variety of tricks and routines to make hula hooping even more fun such as the flamingo, standing on one leg; knee knockers, rotating the hoop around the knees; neck rotations, and hooping around the neck. You can also find some videos of tricks and procedures more in depth on YouTube. Aside from benefiting us in many ways mentally and physically, hula hooping also makes us fall in love with it because it makes us feel happy.

My first time trying the hoop was fun, but little did I realize it was benefiting my life. My mom taught me how to hula hoop at the age of 4; so I experienced the joy and positive vibes hula hooping brings at young age. It took me a lot tries before being able to maintain the hoop for a couple of seconds around my waist. I still continue to hoop, but not as much as I did at younger age, because it makes me happy. I also felt stress leaving my shoulders. I appreciate the benefits of hula hooping now, like getting a slimmer waist, feeling more energetic, being more flexible, and staying fit.

Hooping daily and regularly can reduce your waist and strengthen your stomach muscles while burning fat. As your body tries to keep the hoop rotating it uses as many of its muscles possible: glutes, thighs, abs and lower back muscles that support and stabilize your posture; giving a thorough and efficient workout.

Hooping is a great way to start if you’re planning on achieving abs, especially if you get weighted hoops (2-5 pounds) which will increase endurance. Since only small movements are required, hooping is an awesome place to start and could be followed by other exercises that will help the rest of your body as well. An hour of hooping can burn as much as 400 to 500 calories, while training your inner muscle around your waist. By doing so, it can boost your metabolism helping you burn more fat while exercising.

Benefits other than exercise include health and flexibility. When done on a regular basis, it can also train your spine, prevent back injuries, and increase your flexibility. Flexing your muscles and moving your body in a gentle rocking motion is very effective to improve flexibility. It strengthens and tones the muscles of the back, including the abdomen, helping prevent back injuries. By requiring maximum concentration in order for it to keep circulating the body, it also helps gain and maintain great concentration skills. The relaxation yoga and meditation bring can also be achieved with and aerobic exercise such as hooping. The movement of hooping can be very meditative while connecting the body and music while relaxing the mind.

Hooping stimulates happiness, self-esteem, confidence, and laughter. So go pick up a Hula hoop and make the decision to change your life for the better.
