Carla signing “Maleza” from her album “Dejenme Llorar she put a lot of sentiment into her song and the way she danced added more emotion to her voice.

On Tuesday, September 27, 2016, Carla Morrison played at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz on her 2016 Amor Supremo tour.

Morrison, who has five albums to her credit – Amor Supremo, Dejenme Llorar, Jugando en Serio, Mientras tu Dormías, and Aprendiendo a Aprender – is a Mexican singer whose music is soothing and romantic.

Despite it being a middle-of-the-week concert, the crowd waited anxiously. As soon as she entered the stage they went wild, with everyone started enthusiastically shouting her name.

Morrison opened the show in a free spirited way , she sang “Un Beso” her dance moves were fairy-like and her band added a lot of rhythm to her entrance.

She really got the crowd going when she started singing “Eres tu” and everyone started singing along. It felt really spiritual because her lyrics are about happiness, love, and sadness; things we go through that impact our emotions. Morrison also sang some my personal favorites such as: “Dejenme Llorar”, “Hasta La Piel”, “Pajarito Del Amor”,  and “Maleza.”

She would put so much passion in every song she sang, you could feel the sentiment behind it. Before a song, she would give an explanation of why she wrote it and what it meant to her. She talked about the reasoning behind it, what she was going through, and the way she felt at the time when she composed her songs. Morrison had inspiring words for the fans, urging them to follow their dreams and to know the importance of listening to ourselves and choosing things that would bring happiness.

It was an amazing concert, with a lot of positive vibes because everyone was dancing and expressing happiness. There was a point where I got really emotional and I began to cry while singing along with her. It moved my soul and helped me reflect on things that I have been going through. In my opinion, Morrison put more than a concert on – she gave us an insight into her life by sharing with us her feelings and she made us feel as if we were on stage with her.

If you listen to Julieta Venegas, you will love Carla Morrison. I would compare her to Natalia Lafourcade and Ximena Sarinana because they are both Mexican singers and have a similar music beat. I like her five albums but my personal favorite is Mientras tu Dormias because it’s the first album I listened to, and it’s the album that made me fall in love with her music.
