Building on last year’s success, which placed them in the tougher Gabilan Division of the Monterey Bay League, this year’s varsity girls’ soccer team got off to a great start. The team had a great preseason, going 6-0-1.The winning didn’t come as a shock especially since Coach Marquez said, “The expectation for every day, during games, and during practice is for them to give it their best.”
For all the success of the preseason, the team has found league to be more of a challenge. Breanna Aguilar said, “It’s been a roller coaster season because we’re winning most of our games and losing some.” The girls are 4-2 and in third place behind Salinas and Hollister. Varsity Captain, Oralia Perez, said, “The team’s unified and we’re good, as a team, both inside and outside the field, which shows throughout our matches.”
