It’s always good to have a handy reusable container because it comes with many benefits for you and the environment. Instead of buying water bottles every week or every other week and having to waste money constantly throwing those water bottles away, you can invest in a good reusable container and save money. Not to mention, it helps reduce plastic waste in the parks, oceans, and rivers, pollution around the world, and energy consumption. In the long run, you’d be helping the world be cleaner and help create a better environment.
Some popular brands that sell reusable containers are Hydroflask, Yeti, and Stanley. Hydroflask sells bottles, tumblers, coffee and tea cups, as well as some containers for alcoholic beverages. Their most famous products are their bottles, to be specific, their wide mouth bottle and the wide mouth bottle with flex straw cap. The bottles are insulated and stainless steel, the only difference is that one of them has a straw and the other doesn’t. The bottles come in a variety of colors and they offer 24, 32, 40, and 64 oz sized bottles. Yeti also sells bottles, tumblers, coffee and tea cups, and barware. Yeti is known for their insulated stackable mugs and travel mugs. The mugs come in a variety of colors as well. The stackable mugs come in 10, 14, and 24 oz. The travel mugs come in 20 and 30 oz. As for Stanley, they sell Tumblers, bottles, mugs, jugs, insulated cups, pints, canteens, and flasks. Stanley’s most popular product would be their tumblers. They come in a variety of vibrant colors, in sizes 14 oz, 20, 30, and 40 oz. The one thing that all brands have in common is that their products are stainless steel, insulated, and they’re all roughly $30 to $55.
Recently though, Stanley has been under the spotlight. Their clean state quencher H2O flowstate tumbler has become the hot product that everyone keeps talking about. A lot of people have been trying to get their hands on one because it’s becoming the new aesthetic. It is a big cup with a lid, straw, and a big handle that everyone loves. It comes in a variety of colors and sizes. People love the colors and the style. As stanley’s gain popularity, we see people trying to get their hands on them. We see herds of people shoving each other and getting aggressive at Target trying to get a Stanley for the “Galentine’s Day” collection. You’d think they would be getting this aggressive over an electronic or even a flash sale, but no, over a cup. It even went as far as a woman stealing $2,500 worth of Stanley which is roughly 62 Stanleys.
Recently, there has been a concern with lead exposure surrounding Stanley. Stanley said that they use lead pellets in the manufacturing of the cups but that the stainless steel circular cover is a barrier that protects people from lead exposure and although it’s possible for it to come off, it’s very rare. After this scandal, many people were filming videos of them disposing their cups and four women are trying to sue Stanley, but I think it would be smarter to w sell it and use the profit to buy a lead free alternative.
Another problem with the Stanley craze is that people don’t settle for one, they buy more than two sometimes and some people even collect them. The most that people should have is two containers. One to use on a daily basis and the other one as a backup just in case it gets lost, it breaks, or even if it’s dirty. There should be no reason to buy more than two Stanleys or any brand for that matte. People who buy stanley’s collect them, even though their purpose is to be used and not just sit there on a shelf to collect dust.
In my opinion, I think reusable containers are great to have. They’re convenient and they help the environment, so what’s not to love about them? I personally don’t use a branded container, I just have a generic container that gets the job done, so I don’t understand the hype on Stanleys. They’re expensive and you can find another container for cheaper that does the same thing. I’ve gone to stores like Walmart and found containers like Stanley that are $15. I think it’s absurd that people are buying them when there are better alternatives out there. Some people are only doing it for popularity and later, they’re bound to not use them, making it a waste of money. If people want to waste money and do crazy things for them, they’re welcome to. As for me, I’ll stick with my generic water bottle.
