PROM SEASON, with the stress of buying a dress or renting a tux, the promposals, the memories of getting ready and going out to eat, and the memories you will make at the dance. It is now time to start preparing
The Prom Expo was held on April 5th. It was an opportunity for students to see dresses, tuxedos, corsages and boutonnieres, and a limo by local businesses to get ideas for prom.
To enter the prom expo, students had to pay $5, but in return they got $15 off their prom ticket, as well as a fashion show and information on the theme and location. The vendors that were there are Medina’s Bridal Shop, Bety’s Boutique, Lovely Arrangements, and Leo’s Limos. In addition, Bety’s Boutique and Medina’s Bridal Shop were offering discounts on their dresses and tuxedos to people who got their flyers at the prom expo. “I thought that it was nice, given the fact that we also got a discount on the ticket,” senior Stephanie Flores said.
Before the prom theme was revealed, there was a raffle and students were automatically entered when they entered. The hosts would pick a number from 21-87 and if the number matched the two ending numbers on their receipt then they won a prize.
The winners of the day were Angelica Mungia-Vasquez, Francisco Estrada Jr, Alan Meza and Jayden Rivera. The major price was a prom ticket and Angelica took it. “I was very excited that I won the ticket,” she said. “It was even better when the theme was revealed because it sounded very nice and fun.”
The rest of the prizes were not disclosed to the public, but the other winners were going to be contacted by the end of the month to pick their prize. Although the Prom Expo was nice, senior Stephanie Flores-Alvarado
Prom tickets will be going on sale on April 22 for the price of $90 for a single and $175 for couples, but if you attended the Prom Expo, a single ticket would be $75 and $150 for a couple. According to Ms. Chaidez, guest passes will hopefully be available next week, if not when prom tickets start to go on sale.
Prom will be held on May 18, 2024, at the Embassy Suites in Monterrey. The hosts, juniors Nicolas Padilla and Kike Jacinto said that it will most likely be from 5pm-11pm, but keep an eye out for the announcements for confirmation.
