Home: Salinas, California.

Hobbies: Playing guitar and listening to music at home. “Started in 8th grade, the music I started listening to had guitar, and I thought it would be so cool to play guitar.”

Favorite song: “Drain You” by Nirvana 

Last Comic Read: Incredible Hulk #180 because the illustrations are simple and vintage. 

Goals: Achieve a 3.5 GPA to surpass last year’s grades, be the fastest runner on the track team in the 100-meter dash to feel proud and accomplished. “I chose track because I like running, it’s always been fun for me.” Write 10 stories during the school year.

Why did you join the newspaper/yearbook?: “I did it in 8th grade and it was really fun. I was good with the cameras and I wanted to do it this year.” 

His favorite thing about Alisal: Walking with friends and laughing with them. 

Likes: Genuine people because they are helpful and answer his questions. 

Dislikes: Slow-walkers, rudeness, and lies.

At Pinto Lake in Center Meet 3 on October 17th, Gustavo Perez finished first with a time of 15:44. “It was our first time running that course,” Perez said, “I didn’t know what to expect but going into the race it was very hilly. Being able to still run 15’s makes me feel proud.”
