Damian Ramos-Gomez, Jason Majano, Kevin Majano, (Back Row) Marisol Botello, Bethany Vargas, Luis Ante, Dannadely Juarez, Diego Ortega, all became champions of the NPS Design Challenge on December 13th. They built a biofoul-cleaning robot (barnacles, algae, seaweed) cleaning robot, to help military battleships glide through the water more efficiently. “Winning the NPS design challenge had a profound effect on me because it was the first thing I accomplished this year,” Vargas said.
Engineering team wins NPS competition
New Activities director, Crystal Soria, hopes to make an impact on a larger group of students. “I want to involve students that might not have their voices heard all the time and I want to get their input and I want to get them involved in school as much as possible in all activities,” she said.
Up For the Challenge
Every school has a School Probation Officer, who is assigned to protect the campus. They are here to respond to threats, manage emergency situations, and to build positive relationships with students.
District has plan for school safety
Wellness Wednesdays offers many different activities, like making calming jars to help cope with stress.

The Mobile Clinic operates on Mondays from 3:30-7 pm and is free of charge.

During a soccer match against Los Cachorros, tension started to rise on the field. Players Marcos Castro and Christopher Perez had to be separated by the referee. “We were playing against adults so the parents from our side got heated because they hit one of their kids,” Ruben Delgado said. “We thought they were gonna get disqualified but as far as we know nothing happened.” The opposing team ended up getting the win.
One Last Hurrah for Tigres del Norte
In the league opener against Soledad, junior Nayeli Gil-Silva goes up for a layup during the third quarter. The Trojans won a thriller, 49-48. “We beat the team who won CCS championship last year,” Gil-Silva said. “So, like that definitely made us feel like, oh my gosh, we can do this.” Unfortunately, Gil-Silva would suffer a knee injury in a loss to Salinas, which will sideline her for the next 4-6 weeks.
Girls’ basketball preview: New Season, New Challenges
At the 12th annual Trojan Wrath, sophomore Vanessa Rocha pinned her opponent giving her the win. She comes into the season with one goal in mind - to make it to State. “Winning has shaped me into wanting more,” she said.

At the Palma dual meet, junior Fabian Martinez pinned his opponent, not only giving him a win but also setting up the team for their first league win of the season. “I worked hard for this win and I feel happy with the results,” Martinez said.
New Era, New goals
Junior Stephanie Zarate, running towards goal on a 1 on 1 against the goalkeeper in the Alisal v. Greenfield game. The game ended 2-0 with goals from Zarate and freshman, Giselle Solis.
Keeping it all in perspective
An example of how a change in style can change your confidence in a great way. I went from being a shy guy people just see, to a more confident version of me which is looked at (and I’ve also achieved the best looking in my family).

Me in March of 2024, weighing 279 pounds and on December 23, 2024, weighing 145 pounds. If you are willing to push yourself beyond your limits you can get anything done. I definitely struggled, but it was so worth it to see myself lose 132 pounds in less than a year.
Senior year struggles
Last year's yearbook sold out (as did the two previous years). A lot of people want to wait before they purchase it. The best way to think about it is it's a limited edition, so get it before it sells out.
Why you should buy a yearbook
This is a representation of my outfits from a typical Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. My outfit for Fridays is something comfortable but still cute.
Focused on the function, not the fit
Hoping to recruit the next generation of AVID students, I presented to 8th graders at La Paz Middle School. I really enjoyed how engaged they were, which made presenting easy.
