The boys’ soccer team had a season filled with triumphs, and inevitably some defeats too.
The team was 12-5-4 overall, finishing 7-4-2 in league and earning them back to back league champions in the Gabilan division. “It’s awesome. It’s an accomplishment that the boys should be proud of,” Cisneros said. “I’m very happy that we won league. It was great to come back and do it again especially with some of the same teammates,” senior Nico Hernandez said.
The Trojans earned the 7th seed in Division 1, and faced off against 2nd seeded Mountain View at Mountain View in the quarterfinals. Despite losing a player to a red card early, the team battled a man down and fell in a valiant effort 1-0. “It was just another unfortunate ending to a game that just seemed difficult for us,” Cisneros said. ‘We got an early red card but the guys fought really hard to try to win the game, and they should be really proud of the way they played but we ultimately fell short.”
Although it was a disappointing way to end the season, the team played a very good game regardless and still held their head up high. “I believe we had a lot of luck against us,” senior Ronaldo Corona said. “A lot of the players played a good game, they gave it their energy, they gave it their all, but unfortunately we got the result of not winning. It was sad for the seniors but I believe it was a very good game nonetheless.”
