This fall millions of Apple mobile device users will be hitting the iOS7 download button. This new software will drastically change your device into more colorful one. “It’s simple but not simplistic,” says Lance Whitney in her review of iOS7 for cnet.com.

I became a Beta tester in June just to try out the new iOS7 that was expected in September. For the first month the software had a bug that when charged did not let me use the phone. This irritated me since the phone was acting by itself when turned on it messed up my texts multiple times. After a week or two that bug was fixed and I was happy with what Apple has done to improve the quality of the iPhone, but later on another bug started restarting my phone at random times. By July the software was working fine but Apple still gave me updates. They gave me six updates which improved the software and by August my phone was phone was working fine with no bugs. We Beta testers got the final iOS7 a month before it came out to the public.

The first thing that caught my eye was having no “slide to unlock” bar to access my phone. I slid the lock screen to the right and I didn’t get the passcode number then I slid it to the right and the numbers for my passcode where there, it was a great relief since I didn’t know how to unlock my phone. They added new features such as: iTunes Radio, camera with filters, changed Siri’s appearance, and they added an easier to read thinner font.

iTunes radio is located in your music app allowing you to hear free iTunes music through your data or internet connection. This matters because many Pandora users will change to iTunes Radio since it is easier to get in and you don’t need two apps. To activate the radio all you need to do is login to your iTunes account and press the “start listening” button when you open the app.

The camera changed its appearance by adding a circle to take the picture instead of the horizontal oval. They added filters to the camera to take pictures with the filters in it. In the recording mode you can take pictures and record at the same time to take pictures in motion. This is an improvement because you don’t need to download another app to add a filter.

Siri’s look improved by adding a black background with white letters. They replaced the circle with the microphone to lines that move when you talk. In this new update Siri can also be a male by changing the settings and choosing the male voice. This is a new improvement specially if you’re a lady and want Siri to have a man’s voice.

Safari changed into a more sophisticated surfer. They added a new feature in which you can surf the web privately. To go back to your last page you can slide left and to go forward you can slide right. This makes surfing the internet easier since you don’t have to find the back or forward button.

iOS7 will change the iPhone into a modernized phone, which is what Apple needed to overcome the Samsung Galaxy S4. I’m an iPhone 5 user and when the Galaxy S4 came out I wanted to change to the Galaxy but when I heard the new update would change the iPhone I decided to stay and wait for the new software. My wait was worth the while, since in my opinion this new software is the “next big thing.” The best way to download this software is by doing it directly from the computer since you can backup your device and won’t lose anything. There may be some delay if you install it directly from your device since it is a large file. It’s your choice to choose from where to download it but I guarantee you that this new software will make your device both look and work better than before.
