SBAC thoughts

While the juniors were talking their SBAC, us, the seniors were sitting in a class for more than 3 hours. Many of us were stressing out about college acceptance letters or just trying to decide what to do next with our lives. I found the SBAC week helpful to my stress. It made me stress less about school. I was able to decide what I wanted to do after high school.

During that time I was able to work on my homework for the classes I had after testing period. That was another thing I like about SBAC week, the schedule, I found that having three periods a day helped me be relaxed. I was able to not worry about my homework for the classes I had that day. I also had time during testing period to work on my homework and not have to worry about doing homework in my house. For many seniors who didn’t enjoyed the SBAC week, they obviously didn’t like not doing anything for 3 hours. I feel that if you were smart enough you would have taken things to do for that time. Another, reason why I enjoyed SBAC week was that if I dint have homework for that day I could just watch Netflix provided by my testing teacher, that week we saw about 6 episodes of “Lost”.

Even though there were some moments were I got really tired of being in there and all I wanted to do was leave the class and have some fresh air. I would eventually find something to do, like take a nap but I do think we should of have a least a 10 minute break. Three hours doesn’t seem like a long time but when you’re actually in a classroom for three hour you realize that it is a long time, and that you can finish plenty of things during that time.

While I did like the SBAC week I do think there somethings that should be change for next year. For example I don’t think they should have first period after the testing period. It will be better to have first period and then the testing period. Most students after sitting for a little more than 3 hours do not want to go to another class and sit for 50 more minutes before being able to go get lunch. After being in a place for more than 3 hours we would like to be outside and have the wind hit us or just be able to breathe fresh air. Another thing I think they should change is to instead of SBAC testing being 3 hours  for four days they should cut that time and make testing all day. In that way we can get over testing schedule faster.
