Esther Martinez, Newspaper Editor

Esther Martinez

Senior Esther Martinez is one of three returning staff members. As a junior, Esther was one of the hardest workers on the staff, according to Mr. Battaglini, which made her a natural for editor.

Her commitment to school doesn’t end with the newspaper, she is the Class of 2018’s treasurer, has five AP classes, plays volleyball, and swims.

She was born and raised in Salinas, and lives with her mom, dad, and two sisters (who she has a love/hate relationship with).

Esther enjoys going to the beach, watching YouTube and Netflix, reading, and hanging out with friends. Her favorite movie is 10 Things I Hate About You and her favorite shows are Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries.

In preparation for her role as editor, she attended the Monterey County Youth Media Project this summer. “It was fun. I got to meet new people and learn about things in the community that I didn’t know about.”

While she knows she wants to go to college, she hasn’t quite narrowed it down yet. Her list includes, UC Davis, Berkeley, UCSB, UCSC, USC, and UCLA.
