In her ASL 2 class ASL teacher Patty Killough signs "look at me" to get their attention, as some of the students were not paying attention (on phones, talking, etc.). "As the language is visual, students must have their eyes on me in order to receive the message," she said. "They are unable to simply listen while doing something else."

Many teachers understand the burden of managing overwhelming workloads. AP English teacher Mick Battaglini spends hours reading essays for his class, among other school related activities outside of work hours. “I’m more than willing to read PIQs or write a letter of recommendation for a student, but what these organizations (Nike, Gates Foundation, HSF) are asking is extra work," he said. "I understand it's voluntary, but If I do that (read essays) for SBAC or College Board, I’m compensated, so the same should be true in this situation.”
Pushing the limits of altruism

New flag football head coach Marisol Rasul met with prospective players in her room on May 16. She went over some of the basic rules. “I’m so excited to have football for girls since we never had anything like this before,” sophomore Isabella Garcia said.

Overcoming Loss
For casual days I do just mascara and lip gloss. For mascara I typically keep it consistent by using the Maybelline Sky High in Black and pair it with a lip gloss. The product usually depends on my mood. I tend to buy many lip glosses, some may say too much (like over 50+), but I usually stick with either e.l.f. glowy balm in grape or NYX Fat Oil in Newsfeed.

I struggled with my phone addiction for a long time in my early teens, and I didn’t fix it until these last two years.

In a 4-2 win over the Salinas Cowboys on January 3rd, junior Ronaldo Corona earned praise for his steady play and applying pressure to his opponents. “I enjoy seeing the whole field, being an anchor and leading the team by communicating,” he said. “I see all the action occurring which means I need to be loud and talk to my teammates a lot.”
