Actress and singer-songwriter Freya Skye has released her newest single, “Gold’s Gone”, which portrays her musical talent as a song composer as well as her vocal abilities.
This 16 year old up and coming pop star began to gain attention after she represented the UK during Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022. She then went on to sign with Hollywood Records.
She is currently holding a deal with Disney Music Publishing and Disney Branded Television, her latest project starring in the Disney movie “Zombies 4”. As well as being a participant is Disney’s recent Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour in Summer 2025.
Skye’s music can fall into the category of Pop/Hip-Hop, being compared to singers such as Sabrina Carpenter or Tate McRae. Her music consists of that upbeat and catchy tempo with lyrics revolving around young love, navigating emotions, and heartbreak.
On April 11th, 2025, she released her latest single “Gold’s Gone.” This single contains that energetic pop beat bringing in sounds of acoustic guitar, drums, bass, and keyboards. Its lyrics describe the fear of losing or running out of time, wanting to hold onto the moments where life feels so simple. In the chorus Skye sings, “I just wanna hold on, I’m scared of losing the moment, Running ’til the gold’s gone, The seasons change and I know it, I feel the time is slipping, And I already miss it.” The start of the song is slower and quiet, but when it jumps to the chorus it becomes filled with energy, giving off a pop-rock feel.
After listening to Skye’s single, I can say this song is enjoyable for those who are into the pop/pop-rock genre. I listen to a mix of genres, pop being one of them, and I would say my initial reaction to the song was that it sounded like every other up and coming popstar, though after a couple of listens it began to rub off on me. It is catchy and the type of song you could sing along to to get into that upbeat mood. Overall, I would give this single a 7.5/10.
