With so many movie remakes coming out lately, it sometimes feels like there aren’t many original ideas left in theaters. That’s why watching Hoppers felt like a breath of fresh air. From its creative storyline to its beautiful visuals, this movie felt like a true passion project, and you could tell the creators put a lot of care and love into every detail.

Released on March 6, 2026, Hoppers is an animated science-fiction comedy adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. The movie was directed by Daniel Chong, who helped bring the story to life with a strong focus on creativity and emotional storytelling. Piper Curda voices the main character Mabel, along with other well-known actors such as Bobby Moynihan, Jon Hamm, Kathy Najimy, and Dave Franco.

If you’re not familiar with Hoppers, the story follows Mabel, an animal-loving college student who uses new technology to transfer her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver. Her goal is to save her late grandmother’s cherished forest glade from being destroyed by the construction of a new highway. While living among the animals, Mabel infiltrates the beaver colony and eventually leads them in an effort to protect their home from human development. This part of the movie reminded me a lot of Avatar, where the main character also enters another world using advanced technology and learns to live among a different group. In Hoppers, Mabel blending into the animal world felt similar to how the main character in Avatar connects with the Na’vi people. The movie mixes humor, action, and emotional moments in a way that keeps the audience engaged from beginning to end.

Out of all the characters, my favorite was Mabel. She stood out to me because of how determined and caring she was, especially when it came to protecting nature and honoring her grandmother’s memory. Throughout the movie, she showed courage and compassion, which made it easy to connect with her as the main character. Mabel is also one of the only human characters shown interacting closely with the animal world, which made her role feel even more unique. Most of the other characters in the story are animals, so her presence helped connect the human world to the natural one.

One of the most memorable moments in the film happens when Mabel’s grandmother encourages her to truly see nature for what it is. This moment featured a beautifully animated scene showing different elements of nature coming together in a peaceful and meaningful way. The cinematography during this scene was especially impressive, with stunning visuals that made the environment feel alive. It felt like the kind of moment that makes you pause and appreciate the world around you.

Another detail I really appreciated was the character design. Each animal had its own unique appearance that made them feel realistic but still creative and fun to watch. The filmmakers clearly spent time making sure each design matched the personality of the character, which made the animal world feel believable and full of life. The bright colors and smooth animation style helped bring the world of the animals to life in a way that felt energetic and visually exciting. In some ways, the animation style reminded me of other animated movies like Zootopia, where animals are given strong personalities and expressive designs that make them feel relatable.

Beyond the visuals, the message of the movie was one of its strongest elements. I believe the main message focused on environmental protection, empathy for all species, and the urgent need to find balance between human progress and nature. In a time when technology and artificial intelligence are becoming more common, this movie felt especially meaningful because it showed how important it is to stay connected to nature and respect the environment around us.

The movie also included many funny moments that balanced out the emotional scenes. These lighter moments made the story enjoyable for audiences of all ages and kept the film from feeling too serious. The humor, combined with the heartfelt message, made the movie both entertaining and meaningful.

Overall, Hoppers was an enjoyable and refreshing movie that stood out because of its originality, creativity, and emotional storytelling. It felt like a genuine passion project, and that dedication was visible throughout the film. 

Whether you enjoy animated movies, care about environmental issues, or just want to watch something creative and fun, this movie is definitely worth seeing. I would personally rate Hoppers a 10 out of 10 for its beautiful message, impressive visuals, and unforgettable story.
