As we all know by now, Netflix’s animated movie “KPop Demon Hunters” has arrived at McDonald’s, spotlighting the pop-star musicians Mira, Rumi, and Zoe who saved the world from soul-stealing demons. The movie was a hit to millions of children and adults across the world, connecting with the music and atmosphere the movie provides. With flavors inspired by the movie, McDonald’s created a breakfast meal, lunch or dinner meal, and even a McFlurry.
For breakfast, McDonald’s released the Saja Boys breakfast meal, which came with the classic McDonald’s hash brown, a spicy sausage egg and cheese McMuffin, a drink, and a collectable photocard.

When I received my meal, it sadly didn’t come in the box it was supposed to come in, which was a little disappointing since it was advertised.
At first glance, the food looked like any other McMuffin meal, it looked soft and warm with a zesty smell to it. The cheese on the McMuffin was nice and melted into the bun and sausage, making the sandwich look aesthetically pleasing. The spicy Saja sauce made the sandwich stand out with its bright orange look.
After seeing how it looked, I decided to take my first bite into the McMuffin. At first, I thought it would taste unpleasant and gross because of the scary orange color, but it ended up being one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever tried.
The flavor of the sandwich was outstanding and very different from any other sauces that McDonald’s has launched with hints of cajun sauce and spicy mustard mixed together. I would honestly compare the sauce to a hot buffalo sauce from McDonald’s. The sauce blended perfectly with the sausage and egg making it the perfect combination.
Even though the meal was great, it had some downsides to it, like the meal coming with a soda instead of a hot drink. I don’t like drinking soda right after waking up or in the morning. Overall, the breakfast meal was delicious and worth the $9, I would definitely buy it again due to the fact that it made me like the McMuffin since I used to hate everything about it before the launch. It honestly bums me out that it’s a limited time meal because I wish it would stay permanently on the menu.
Diving into the lunch/dinner menu, they released the KPop Demon Hunters Happy Meal that came with a 10 piece McNuggets, Ramyeon McShaker Fries, a medium drink, both Hunter and Demon sauces, and 1 of 6 exclusive photocard packs for $12.49 or $9.89 without the McFlurry.
Compared to what I imagined, the meal looked plain and like any other normal McNugget combo meal which was again a little disappointing. The only thing that differed the KPop Demon Hunter Happy Meal from any other meal from McDonald’s was the way the box and the sauces looked, bright and colorful which gave me excitement again to try.
After seeing how good the food looked I decided to try both the Hunter and Demon sauces to see what the hype was really about. When I opened them I got hit with a strong smell that was both desirable and unpleasant. The first thing I noticed was how different they both looked, the Demon sauce was thick and darker in color, while the Hunter sauce looked lighter and more smooth. I was honestly scared to try the Demon sauce due to its scary purple appearance.
When I finally tried the sauces, I could immediately tell they were completely different. For one, the Demon sauce was very underwhelming because it tasted nothing like a tangy, bold, and creamy hot mustard, like how McDonald’s advertised it to taste, but rather tasted like a heavily watered down barbecue sauce lacking its flavor.
On the other hand, the Hunter sauce had a spicy kick to it while also tasting sweet which I really enjoyed with my nuggets. The Hunter sauce tasted like a sweet chili making the sauce taste like orange chicken also due to its sticky consistency. I would definitely get the Hunter sauce again giving it a 8/10, but I would sadly not get the Demon sauce again due to the lack of flavor making it a 2/10.
Not wanting to judge the meal too quickly, I next tried the Ramyeon McShaker fries where they provided a small demon hunter decorated bag so you could be able to shake the fries together which I thought was great and useful. The fries looked crisp and golden with the spices all mixed together while also giving this orange look to them. The fries tasted really dry because of all the spices mixed together, but otherwise the taste was really good. I liked the fries because it tasted a lot like garlic fries, where I honestly think it gave them a big boost of flavor.
After finishing the salty fries, I was ready for something sweet so I moved on to the McFlurry that came with the meal. The McFlurry was topped with berry popping pearls and a wild berry sauce that looked really pretty since it had the Huntrix’s signature purple color. When I took a bite, I immediately got hit with the berry sauce, which I liked since it tasted really sweet and mixed well with the creamy vanilla ice cream.
However, something I didn’t enjoy was the popping boba because I felt like the popping bobas texture didn’t match with the soft vanilla ice cream, which I would say is the only downside to the McFlurry.
I personally would not get it again due to the different types of textures that were mixed in, but if you are a person that doesn’t mind texture while eating I would highly recommend you try it.
Overall, the Demon Hunter meal was a fun experience with some really good flavors and a few downsides to it. The Ramyeon McShaker fries and Saja breakfast meal were the highlights of this meal. While the sauces didn’t live up to my expectations I still enjoyed the meal.
Even though not everything was as good, the meal was really enjoyable and fun to try. I would rate the Huntrix meal a 6/10 and the Saja meal a 10/10 due to its incredible taste.
In my opinion, the Demon Hunter breakfast and lunch meals were more catered to adults rather than to kids. One reason is the Saja Boy McMuffin would be too spicy for a kid and I would say too saucy and messy for them to eat. Another reason would be because the flavors of the Demon sauce and Hunter sauce were more catered to a taste palette of an adult and not at all for kids, although I feel like they would maybe like the Demon sauce due to the fact that it tastes flavorless and just plain sweet, but on the other hand the Hunter sauce is more on the spicy side, and I don’t think they would like it.
