Becoming Mrs. Jenner

Bruce Jenner is now probably making a bigger impact than Kim Kardashian and in the most unexpected way. Over the past years of the Kardashian’s reign of reality television and the tabloids, Bruce Jenner had been targeted for surgeries on his face especially; many compared him to a raisin or a dried peach and called him a lesbian. The truth however, Jenner was transitioning into a woman.

In a very heart felted interview with Diane Sawyer, Jenner went into depth of his story and his troubled and secretive journey. He spoke to Diane about never feeling comfortable in his own body and that he looked at women as “lucky” because they could express themselves as they were. He felt trapped. Fast forward to a little after he wins the gold medal in the 1976 Olympics, Jenner had been speaking to a therapist whom he says told him he needed to stop running away from this and confront it. Bruce started taking doses of estrogen, the dominant female hormone and went to painful but bearable measures to remove his chest and facial hair as well. However very soon after, 5 years exactly, states Jenner, he stopped because he thought this would hurt his kids and many other people in his life.

Jenner said that the first person to find out was actually Kim Kardashian, his 33 year old step daughter. He also said that out of everyone she was the easiest to talk to about his situation. On the day of the interview, all of the Kardashian family showed their support specifically via twitter. Kourtney, his oldest step-daughter said “Couldn’t be a more proud daughter. With courage and bravery, let’s change the world. I am honored to stand by Bruce’s side and support.” Kris, his wife for 25 years said, “Not only was I able to call him my husband for 25 years and father of my children, I am now able to call him my hero.” Not only was his family showing support and tweeting about it non-stop but many others were too. Bruce Jenner was trending on twitter with over 200,000 tweets in an hour and a half. Many other celebs and big names hoorayed Jenner like, Lucy Hale, Cara Delavigne and Lady Gaga. Even Oprah showed support saying quote on quote “All of us deserve to be loved for who we are” Bravo. Bruce Jenner.”

It’s really great that the new Ms. Jenner has inspired people of all varieties to live and to be even a little more comfortable with themselves. There have been many deaths in the LGBT community because of people who don’t feel wanted or worthy. This opens doors for many and gives an insight on the very asinine and disgraceful stereotypes given to people of all sexual orientations. Many are rooting for the good this might do especially but not just to LGBT youth. This teaches many people I think that hiding who you are is hard, uncomfortable and painful. Certainly coming out about this to the world took much more strength than imaginable. So correct, BRAVO BRUCE JENNER.
